Bikram Yoga is a precise sequence of 24 postures and 2 breathing exercises suitable for all ages and level of ability.  The postures will stretch and strengthen your muscles, ligaments, and joints, massaging and stimulating your organs, glands, and nerves.  Fresh oxygenated blood will be moved to every part of your body, restoring all systems to a healthy state. 

This yoga is performed in a heated room (approximately 105 degrees) to properly warm up your muscles, therefore preventing injuries and allowing for a deeper work out.  The profuse sweating will promote a natural cleansing of the body by flushing a great amount of toxins. 

Bikram Yoga is a 90 minute class which many people choose to take as a preventive medicine, loss of unnecessary weight or to limit the effects of aging.  As the practice becomes part of your daily routine, you will develop concentration, patience, determination and self control skills, which will help and benefit other areas of your life.  Please do not concern yourself about being too tight, overweight or out of shape. People approach yoga exactly to address these specific issues. With patience and consistency a lot of conditions can be dramatically improved. Be on time, come on an empty stomach and have a beautiful experience.

Before class:

Please discuss any major or minor injuries, surgeries, temporary or permanent conditions which may prevent you from executing the postures.  Keep in mind that with the vast majority of cases, the modifications will be in the depth of the posture rather than the form.

 

In class:

In a Bikram Yoga class, the teachers do not practice with the students. The whole 90 minutes are devoted to instruct and correct students with particular attention to form, focus, breathing and self control.

 

After class:

If you have any questions about a posture that is particularly difficult for you or you  are unclear about how to approach it and get the benefits, please ask any teacher after class. Also, successful stories such as break-throughs or a new understanding of a posture should be shared.
